Solon, fragment 17 (tr. Douglas E. Gerber):
The mind of the immortals is altogether hidden from men.

πάντῃ δ᾿ ἀθανάτων ἀφανὴς νόος ἀνθρώποισιν.
Or, keeping the force of both privatives,
From every angle the mind of the immortals is invisible to men.
