A Dream of the Past

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936), "The Mutiny of the Mavericks," Mine Own People (New York: The Nottingham Society, ©1909), pp. 97-130 (at 124):

His doom like Belshazzar's in death has been cast,
And the hand of the venger shall never be stayed
Till his race, faith, and speech are a dream of the past.
