Homer, Iliad 16.852-853 (Patroclus to Hector; cf. 24.131-132, Thetis to Achilles; tr. Richmond Lattimore):
You yourself are not one who shall live long, but now already
death and powerful destiny are standing beside you.

οὔ θην οὐδ᾽ αὐτὸς δηρὸν βέῃ, ἀλλά τοι ἤδη
ἄγχι παρέστηκεν θάνατος καὶ μοῖρα κραταιή.
