Learning One Thing Well

Menander, fragment 695 Kassel and Austin (tr. Francis G. Allinson):
It is far better to have come to know one thing thoroughly than to be superficially dressed up with many.

πολὺ κρεῖττόν ἐστιν ἓν καλῶς μεμαθηκέναι
ἢ πολλὰ φαύλως περιβεβλῆσθαι πράγματα.
