Mother Earth

Roderick Frazier Nash, The Rights of Nature: A History of Environmental Ethics (Madison: The University of Wisconsin Press, 1989), p. 93:
And Francis used the adjective "mother" to characterize the earth.
"Mother" is a noun, not an adjective.
