Two Things

Pindar, Isthmian Odes 5.12-13 (tr. William H. Race):
There are truly two things alone that foster the finest sweetness of life in blossoming prosperity:
if a man succeds and hears his praises sung.

δύο δέ τοι ζωᾶς ἄωτον μοῦνα ποιμαί-
νοντι τὸν ἄλπνιστον εὐανθεῖ σὺν ὄλβῳ,
εἴ τις εὖ πάσχων λόγον ἐσλὸν ἀκούῃ.
The same (tr. Anthony Verity):
Truly, two things only shepherd life to its sweetest perfection:
if a man is blessed with flourishing prosperity,
and if he enjoys a noble reputation.
