Parents

Pindar, Isthmian Odes 1.5 (tr. Anthony Verity):
For what is dearer to good men than cherished parents?

τί φίλτερον κεδνῶν τοκέων ἀγαθοῖς;
Homer, Odyssey 9.34-36 (tr. Richmond Lattimore):
                                                                                So it is
that nothing is more sweet in the end than country and parents
ever, even when far away one lives in a fertile
place, when it is in alien country, far from his parents.

ὣς οὐδὲν γλύκιον ἧς πατρίδος οὐδὲ τοκήων
γίγνεται, εἴ περ καί τις ἀπόπροθι πίονα οἶκον
