A Time to Keep Silence

Sophocles, Oedipus the King 569 (Creon speaking; tr. Oliver Taplin):
I've no idea. And when I do not know, I hold my tongue.

οὐκ οἶδ’· ἐφ’ οἷς γὰρ μὴ φρονῶ σιγᾶν φιλῶ.
Id. 1520:
When I'm short of knowledge, I don't idly chatter.

ἃ μὴ φρονῶ γὰρ οὐ φιλῶ λέγειν μάτην.
