But if, old man, there are falsehoods amongst men that are
persuasive, you should recognize the opposite—
that many truths turn out to be unpersuasive to them.
ἀλλ᾿ εἴπερ ἐστὶν ἐν βροτοῖς ψευδῆ, γέρον,
πιθανά, νομίζειν χρή σε καὶ τοὐναντίον,
ἄπιστ᾿ ἀληθῆ πολλὰ συμβαίνειν βροτοῖς.
