Husband to Wife
Homer, Iliad 14.314 (Zeus to Hera; tr. A.T. Murray, rev. William F. Wyatt):
Newer› ‹Older
But for us two, come, let us take our joy bedded together in love.τραπείομεν is from τέρπω, not τρέπω, but Richmond Lattimore's rendering makes me wonder if he confused the two:
νῶι δ᾿ ἄγ᾿ ἐν φιλότητι τραπείομεν εὐνηθέντε.
But now let us go to bed and turn to love-making.
