Wood River Massacre

Monument near the Hilltop Auction and Banquet House at 2612 Fosterburg Road, Alton, Illinois: The victims of the Wood River Massacre (July 10, 1814) were Rachel Reagan, her children Elizabeth and Timothy, and her nephews William and Joel (sons of Rachel's brother Abel Moore) and John and George (sons of Rachel's brother William Moore). William and Abel Moore, with their sister Rachel, were the children of my 6th great-grandfather, John D. Moore (died 1808).
