It will never be possible to stress enough the evil that the 35-hour week has done to our country.I agree -- a 30-hour week (6 hours a day for 5 days) would be much better. An anonymous epigram from the Greek Anthology (10.43, translated by W.R. Paton) recommends a 6-hour work day:
Six hours are most suitable for labour, and the four that follow, when set forth in letters, say to men "Live."The four numbers following 6 are 7, 8, 9, 10. In ancient Greek, numbers are represented by letters of the alphabet, and the letters corresponding to these numbers are zeta (7), eta (8), theta (9), and iota (10), which spell the Greek imperative meaning "live" (zethi).
