Disturbers of the Peace
E.B. White, Disturbers of the Peace:
Newer› ‹Older
The cows lie sweetly by the pond,
At ease, at peace (except for flies);
The glassy morning waves its wand
And bids the summer day arise.
Arise, O pesky day, arise!
The peaceful cow, with flies to bother,
The dog his worms, the hen her lice,
And ManMan his eternal brother.
