Historia Monachorum in Aegypto 10.21-22 (tr. Norman Russell):

21. 'He had also been transported physically to paradise, he said, and had seen a vast company of saints. He related how he had eaten of the fruits of paradise, and showed evidence of the fact. For he had brought his disciples a large choice fig, deliriously scented, to prove to them that what he said was true.' The priest Copres who was telling us this story, being at that time a young man, saw this fig in the hands of Patermuthius's disciples, and kissed it, and admired its scent. 22. 'For many years,' he said, 'it remained with his disciples, being kept as evidence of the father's visit to paradise. It was of enormous size. Indeed a sick man had only to smell it and he was at once cured of his illness.'

καὶ ἀπῆχθαι δέ αὐτόν ἐν σαρκὶ ἔφη εἰς τόν παράδεισον καί ἑωρακέναι πλῆθος ἁγίων. μετειληφέναι δέ αὐτὸν ἔλεγεν ἐκ τῶν καρπῶν τοῦ παραδείσου καὶ μάρτυρα τοῦ πράγματος ἐδείκνυεν· σῦκον γὰρ ἓν μέγα καὶ ἐξαίρετον καὶ εὐωδίας πολλῆς μεστὸν πρὸς τοὺς ἑαυτοῦ μαθητὰς ἀπεκόμισεν ἐπιδεικνύων αὐτοῖς, ὅτι ἀληθῆ εἰσίν τά παρ' αὐτοῦ λεγόμενα. ὅπερ σῦκον ὁ διηγούμενος ἡμῖν ταῦτα Κόπρης πρεσβύτερος νεανίας τότε ὑπάρχων ἐν ταῖς χερσὶ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἐθεάσατο καὶ κατεφίλησε καὶ τὴν πνοὴν ἐθαύμασεν. πολλοῖς γὰρ ἔτεσι, φησίν, ἔμεινε παρὰ τοῖς αὐτοῦ μαθηταῖς φυλαττόμενον. ἦν γὰρ παμμέγεθες. μόνον γάρ τις εἰ ὀσφρήσατο αὐτοῦ τῶν κακουμένων, εὐθέως τῆς νόσου ἀπηλλάττετο.
