Hiding the Sausage

Paul MacKendrick, Roman France (New York: St. Martin's Press, 1972), p. 139 (on Montmaurin):
A local farmer has set up, discreetly veiled by shrubbery, one of his finds, a twenty-inch phallus; which the village abbé, in his innocence, had failed to recognize for what it was.
From Google Books' snippet view, I see the following in Georges Fouet, La villa gallo-romaine de Montmaurin (Haute-Garonne) (Paris: Éditions du Centre national de la recherche scientifique, 1969 = Gallia, Supplément XX), p. 171:
M. François Miro avait découvert dans les ruines un grand phallus de calcaire qu'il plaqua, afin de le dissimuler partiellement, contre le bâti maçonné d'une meule à aiguiser derrière des massifs d'arbustes de son jardin.
Fouet, p. 189, Pl. LV is an illustration of a "Grand phallus en calcaire" (invisible in Google Books' snippet view).

In 1983 a "reproduction augmentée" of Fouet's book was published. Neither edition is available to me.
