Wheel of Fortune

Herodotus 1.207.2 (Croesus to Cyrus; tr. A.D. Godley):
Men's fortunes are on a wheel, which in its turning suffers not the same man to prosper for ever.

κύκλος τῶν ἀνθρωπηίων ἐστὶ πρηγμάτων, περιφερόμενος δὲ οὐκ ἐᾷ αἰεὶ τοὺς αὐτοὺς εὐτυχέειν.
